12-year violinist, experimental brony musician

  • Brony music producer, aspiring to be the pioneer of fusion world music
  • Notable achievements in Baklava, the latest album by A State of Sugar
  • Advocates healthy music learning and aims to spread the fruits of music via education and support

Coming from a rich classical and Asian culture, I have always aspire to create and perform the high art of music as a emotionally engaging medium of expression. Music is undoubtedly something we can never live without, and with the booming diversity of timbres and genres, from classical to ethnic folk, it is unquestionably a flawless philosophy that perfectly communicates and exhibits our stories over cultural barrier, and undeniably, the turbine behind my motive.

Through establishing EveryDayAcademy, I hope to provide more artists opportunities to excel in their career and niche. After all, what's a world without diverse contributions and artistic expressions? During my journey as a brony musician, I had gone through countless moments of success and failure, but also made a number of friends and artists who share similar backstories. I was able to share my common thoughts with others and receive advice from them.

But we are never alone...

An awesome thing about music and other art forms is that we are never on our own, albeit being the out-of-place creatives that may not be most preferred or needed by society. We may share similar experiences, achievements, and rejections, but only if we stick together would we overcome obstacles like these. I know it sounds lame and cliche, but I wonder isn't that what art is all about - a free space for artists to make art and know each other? If that were true, I would love to witness this utopian world for myself, and frankly what could be better than crafting this paradise together as a team?

How did you become a fan of My Little Pony?
I started my journey as a brony in 2019 and it all started from a single DeviantArt post. I knew nothing about My Little Pony back in that time, except some characters of the Mane 6. One thing that I still remember up to this day is when I saw a promotional video of Friendship is Magic on TV. I hesitated and rejected the show due to the strong gender stereotypes developed around my living environment. People used to believe that My Little Pony is, and only, for little girls, and boys are supposed to watch something adventurous. It was a stereotype accepted by the majority of society. However, the time has changed and I finally realized that everything that was believed by the vast majority in the past was wrong. My Little Pony is a show for everyone regardless of gender, age, race, and ethnicity. These people were annoyed or disgusted by the behaviors and personalities of bronies, who watch MLP as grown adults, but now everyone eventually starts to accept it. This is the main message behind everything I did over the past few years.
Why did you choose to be part of the MLP fandom?
I have been fascinated by the creative art styles and optimistic messages conveyed by cartoon shows since I was a kid. Watching these shows has always been an enjoyable moment during my daily routine as they bring joy and positivity to our lives when we are feeling down or stressed, and My Little Pony is no exception. Not only it is a fantastic show for people of any age and gender, but I believe that the franchise is also a role model of positive core values like love and mutual respect in our society, which are also commonly seen in the brony fandom. I have been a brony since 2019 and it has been important for me to look at the same thing from multiple perspectives and learn to accept different opinions. The last few years have been a very difficult and challenging time for the MLP community as the new generation arrives and the old generation leaves, which has contributed to numerous concerns and significant impacts by many fans of the fourth incarnation. However, instead of quitting the fandom with zero hope about the prospect, I still believe that the new generation is willing to continue the legacy created by the predecessor and spread the words of essential human values to children of the next generation, which is one of the reasons why I am still hopeful about the future of the MLP fandom.
Why did you found EveryDayDashie? How did your content evolve over time?
On July 7, 2019, I launched EveryDayDashie, an MLP Instagram account dedicated to posting content about My Little Pony and creating a community for people of any kind. Everything was related to Rainbow Dash back then (hence it was called EveryDayDashie) and I aimed to upload Rainbow Dash's daily life to keep my account updated. However, as the demand for quality content and engagement with the audience rise, we slowly transcend from old-school vlog posts to a more appealing style of social media content. Today, the account has become a phenomenal sensation with thousands of followers and we have made the lifelong decision to branch out to larger projects, such as EveryDayAcademy. Despite being recognized as a micro-influencer on Instagram at this stage, there is still a long journey to go, and maintaining a harmonious atmosphere will always be our primary vision in the community.
How do you contribute to the MLP fandom?
I mainly produce pony music and upload them onto social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Most of them are electronic music and these mixes also cover a wide variety of musical genres. Some of our videos were also featured on various websites dedicated to promoting pony music, such as EquestriaDaily and Horse Music Herald. However, seeking recognition in a massive fandom has always been a difficult task for brony musicians, especially those who lack a well-known social media profile or a certain degree of popularity. The fame of brony music has been showing a decline since the end of the golden age of the brony fandom and getting authentic mixes to be featured on numerous brony websites is becoming increasingly more difficult for novel musicians in the community. As a result, we aim to create an indie brony music platform dedicated and tailored for musicians who want to gain recognition in the fandom by showcasing their unique musical talents. We would also like to dilute the misconception that new or small musicians are incapable of producing top-notch music. Poor mixes can be produced by mediocre musicians, but not all mediocre musicians produce poor mixes. With that in mind, it is believed that we should learn to accept and appreciate musical works created by people of different kinds and not judge the book by its cover.
Besides music, are there any other types of content that you create on social media platforms?
One of the things for which I am known on Instagram is the signature style of my meme posts. As memes are becoming the trendiest kind of content in the modern world of the Internet, we started creating original memes about My Little Pony to keep our social media profiles fresh, as well as an effective means of engagement and growing our community. These posts come from a wide variety of formats, such as images with captions, videos, animated GIFs, and even Instagram stories. They are also relatable and commonly experienced in our daily life, which creates a place for people with similar experiences to share their stories with the rest of the community. Apart from memes, there are also posts catered to people who are looking for high-quality and aesthetic content, such as edits, collages, and videos. This kind of content requires more time to be created and therefore is more sophisticated and professional than daily memes. We hope to sprinkle everyone's life with joy and positivity by creating these types of content, as well as sharing our content with the wider fandom.
